Britney Spears, 26, arrived at the Century City, California, office of Mark Vincent Kaplan — Kevin Federline’s counsel — in her white Mercedes SL65 to give a deposition in her ongoing custody battle with ex Kevin Federline Thursday.
She wore a sleeveless red dress with an open back, sunglasses and had her hair pulled in a pony tail. She didn't say anything as she entered the building.
She left after about 45 minutes and headed to her Beverly Hills home.
She had skipped two scheduled depositions in the past month alone: one yesterday, as TMZ first reported, and another on December 12. Pal Sam Lutfi said she got anxious.
(Also on the schedule to face Kaplan this month? Spears’ former bodyguards Anthony “Fat Tony” Barretto, who claimed in October that the pop singer has “mental problems,” and Lonnie Jones, who sued her for non-payment.)
Spears’ legal troubles are mounting.
Yesterday, her high-powered L.A. attorney Sorrell Trope filed papers asking the court for permission to be relieved from representing the troubled star. The motion stated: “There has been a breakdown in communications" between his firm and Spears "making further representation of her interests impossible.”
It’s her third lawyer to resign since September.
“It’s not a surprise Trope left…[his firm] couldn’t reign her in,” a source close to the case told Us Magazine. “No one can, and it’s an embarrassment in front of the judge.
“It’s going to be nearly impossible for her to get custody now with this track record,” the source added.
Spears also still faces criminal charges for driving without a valid license. Yesterday, a hearing regarding this matter was postponed until January 25.
“Both sides are trying to work out an agreement,” Spears’ criminal lawyer, J. Michael Flanagan, told reporters.
