Sources at UCLA Medical Center say Britney Spears has been classified as "G.D." - Greatly Disabled. That is a huge and dangerous deal. That means the patient is unable to take care of basic needs, such as the acquisition of food, clothing or shelter. Being G.D. is one of the criteria for involuntary commitment.Several health care professionals tell us Britney has fallen into a "manic state" due to her bipolar disorder. We're also told, she arrived at the hospital this morning at around 2:15 AM but wasn't admitted until 4:15 AM, because she was causing such a scene in the hospital. We first reported that Britney accused her mother of sleeping with her boyfriend. Now we have more. We're told Britney screamed, "the only reason she's admitting me is because she wants to be alone with her boyfriend! She wants to sleep with my boyfriend!!" Britney never said exactly who she was talking about. When Brit calmed down, she talked about her kids, how much she misses them and how it's unfair that she doesn't have them.

Grey's Anatomy Star Checks into UCLA Psych Ward

Justin Chambers, Dr. Alex Karev on "Grey's Anatomy," checked himself in to the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center this week. Yes, it's the same place as Britney Spears.

The rep claims Chambers, a married father of five, was "exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder. He went in voluntarily to get some help."

Hospital Treating Britney Specializes in Bipolar Disorder

Britney Spears' inner circle, including her estranged mother Lynne, chose to admit her to the UCLA Medical Center because of its experience with treating bipolar disorder, a source tells Usmagazine.com.
"Her lawyers and doctors have been working with UCLA," the source tells Us. "They were ready and had everything in place."
The facility, the source says, is better prepared to treat the troubled singer than L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was hospitalized for less than 48 hours earlier this month.
"When she went to Cedars they weren't ready for her," the source says.
"They have a much stricter unit at UCLA and treat bipolar cases regularly," the source adds. "This is a serious unit she's on."
(It was reported that singer Mariah Carey was treated at the same facility in 2001 following her highly publicized emotional breakdown.)
Before the intervention, Us reported that Spears hadn't slept since Saturday — a sign of suffering from bipolar disorder, says one expert.
"You can go all night without sleeping," psychiatrist Pauline Wallin tells Us.
Another sign: Spears has extreme highs (known as manic episodes) followed by intense lows (this past Monday, she sobbed on a curbside after a fight with pal Sam Lutfi).
"Her pattern of behavior indicates that she doesn’t have a lot of self-control when she gets upset," Wallin says. (Read what other experts had to say about her state here.)
For now, Spears is at UCLA under a "mental health evaluation hold" – commonly known as a "5150" – meaning she can be held there for up to 72 hours if a medical professional deems her a danger to herself or others.
After the 72-hour treatment, her family can seek a 14-day extended evaluation or patients can decide to seek further treatment, according to ABC News, citing the California Department of Mental Health.
"Because it was planned there's a much higher likelihood they'll be able to extend her stay beyond the 5150," the source tells Us.

Lutfi said there was no intervention last night, but then said Britney's family "barged in." For the record, the family is staging an intervention and Lutfi has been kept in the dark.Lutfi said of the family, "They have an agenda. Their agenda is jealously because they don't fit in. I do. Family sources tell TMZ that's baloney -- both Lynne and Jamie "are on the same page," feeling like Sam is a "megalomaniac" who is motivated by "evil."

Brit Shops for Mercedes AGAIN During Intervention

Finally an Intervention

Sources told TMZ "if it happens," it should happen this week. Last night, Brit's mom, Lynne, her dad, Jamie, cousin Alli, as well as Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib all showed up at Britney's house and were all there at the same time.Brit's mom and dad (and others) have known for months that a bipolar disorder -- and not substance abuse -- is at the root of her problems. They cannot involuntarily commit her (impossible under these circumstances) and Brit has refused to voluntarily enter a hospital or even undergo evaluation for the problem. But now the plan is underway.Here's what's significant: Britney has not spoken to her mom for a while -- no contact at all. Last night, Britney and Lynne (along with Sam) left the house at one point and went to the drugstore, so it seems they are now interacting.There were signs last night that Britney didn't feel as warm toward her dad, that she didn't want anything to do with him.This move has been in the planning stages for well over a month. It should begin to unfold IF Britney cooperates, and that is the wild card.

Britney Spears and good friend, Sam Lutfi got into a really ugly fight just minutes ago...

Britney and Sam drove up to the gate of her house when she suddenly jumped out of the car crying -- why we're not sure. Britney's paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib tells TMZ he got a frantic call from a hysterical Brit at that moment, pleading with him "Baby, can you come pick me up??" Adnan told us he told her to go into her house and he would be right over. When he arrived, however, he was told in no uncertain terms that he was not allowed to enter the gate -- the guards were under strict orders from Sam not to let him in. He's tried calling each of her six cell phones and the house phone, but she's not answering.

Sam Speaks About Britney

In a phone call to Barbara Walters, Britney Spears' pal Sam Lutfi revealed that the pop singer "is starting some kind of treatment" for "mental issues," the talk show host announced on The View Monday.
"There is a man named Sam Lutfi, who is the manager and very good friend of Britney," Walters told the audience. "He has been staying with her constantly.
"He got in touch with us... I can't vouch for this... He seemed to be very knowledgeable and he certainly was very nice.
"He said Britney was suffering from what he describes as mental issues which are treatable.
"He said that she has been to a psychiatrist and ... I assume she is starting some kind of treatment.
"She has been having mood swings. She has been having some kind of trouble sleeping."
Walters said that Lutfi also claims Spears — who hasn't seen her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James in three weeks since she lost visitation rights — "is in touch with her mother — because we had heard that she wasn't — and her mother [Lynne, who arrived in L.A. late Sunday] has been very supportive of whatever it is that Britney is trying to do.
"I said, 'Can I discuss this on the air?' And he said, 'Yes.'"

BREAKING NEWS:Monte Carlo in Vegas on Fire!

The Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas is on fire -- looks like about four stories from the roof down are toast. The fire may have started in one of the luxury suites on the 32nd floor, and has burned to the 24th floor. No reports of injuries yet. Traffic is snarled on the strip.

A fire spokesman said the fast-spreading blaze started around 11:00 AM PT. The hotel has more than 3,000 rooms -- minus a few now. The 35-story hotel is situated between New York, New York and the Bellagio. Firemen are battling the blaze from the roof, where four workers are trapped, according to FOX News. Guests are being evacuated to the MGM Grand.

NYPD to Question Mary-Kate?

Despite rumors that the NYPD will be questioning Mary-Kate Olsen in connection with Heath Ledger's death, is FALSE! Sources say there is "absolutely no plan" to question MK.

An autopsy on Heath Ledger will be “completed sometime in the the early afternoon” Wednesday, Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the Chief Medical Examiner's office, tells Us Magazine.
Ledger’s body was brought out of the New York apartment in a black body bag and loaded into the Medical Examiner’s truck at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
“We’re conducting an investigation,” she said.
The New York Times reported that signs pointed to a suicide and that Ledger was found “naked and unconscious on a bed, with sleeping pills — both prescription medication and nonprescription — on a night table.”

BREAKIN NEWS:Heath Ledger Died

A New York Police Department spokesman says the actor Heath Ledger has been found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence, CNN reports.
Ledger was born in 1979 and grew up in Perth, Australia, where he discovered acting during high school. At 17, he moved to Sydney to get his foot in the door.
Ledger moved to America and gained prominence with the 1999 film Two Hands and a breakout performance in 1999's 10 Things I Hate About You.
The actor, 28, was nominated for an Oscar for his role in 2005's Brokeback Mountain. He was also known for his starring role in Casanova.
He split from Michelle Williams last September. They met on the set of Brokeback Mountain and shared custody of their daughter, Matilda.
Ledger was to star as the Joker in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, due out this year.

Britney Spears arrived — and quickly left — L.A. Superior Court for the latest hearing in her ongoing custody battle with ex Kevin Federline.
Four helicopters, including one from the LAPD, hovered over her as she arrived in a black Escalade with Adnan Ghalib and Sam Lutfi. The group circled the parking lot before getting back on the 101 Freeway a short time later.

Inside Britney's Breakdown

Sources say when the cops showed up, Britney was locked in the master bathroom with Jayden James. Officers saw Britney from the backyard holding Jayden, who did not appear to be upset. Britney refused to come out for nearly three hours. When she did, all she was wearing was panties. Britney was incoherent, screaming at the cops, "What the f*** are you doing in my house? I know who you are." She continued ranting, "I don't need your f***ing help." At one point Britney, whose moods swung wildly from laughter to rage to sobs, hollered, "You will do as I say."At some point Britney put on a see-through nightgown. Before police took her outside, they wanted to cover her with a sweater, and she screamed, "Don't cover me up. I'm f***ing hot."Britney's assistant and nanny were present during the standoff. At one point the assistant told the police that Britney had been "popping pills" all day. Her code for medication was "vitamins" and she repeatedly demanded, "Get me my vitamins!" Officers found a bottle of Prozac in her bedroom.Sam Lutfi arrived and told officers that he and the others around Britney "knew this was coming for a long time," but didn't know how bad it would be. The assistant also told cops that earlier in the day, Britney showed no concern about attending her deposition and would not heed her warnings to show up on time.Sam told law enforcement that Britney had been extremely unstable and had recently purchased a house in Malibu on a whim, began moving furniture in and then changed her mind.As for Jayden James, the reason cops took him to the hospital was because there was a small bruise on his leg. Britney insisted the bruise occurred on Kevin's watch. Police took Jayden to Cedars as a precautionary measure.We're told police will testify about the insanity at Monday's custody hearing.And one more thing -- the nanny told cops that Britney would frequently dress up to the nines for no reason. She would walk around the house and change back.

Donda West Had A Heart Attack

TMZ has just received the final coroner's report on the death of Donda West. The L.A. County Coroner has concluded that Kanye's mom died of "coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors due to or as a consequence of liposuction and mammoplasty." Plainly put, she had a heart attack after the surgery.

The report indicates her final manner of death "could not be determined."

The coroner says several things could have played a role in her death, but they could not say for sure what exactly killed her, adding there was no evidence that anesthesia -- or even the surgery -- caused or contributed to her death.

We've reported extensively that Donda West had cosmetic surgery the day before her death -- performed by Dr. Jan Adams, who was not board certified in plastic surgery. We know another doctor refused to operate on West before Adams came into the picture. The other doc had said she had a medical condition that made her a candidate for a heart attack.

The Coroner's report narrative states that Stephen Scoggins (Donda's nephew), a nurse with an advanced degree in Public Health, was called by a friend of Donda to go to the surgery center where the procedures were performed, because Ms. West was not "waking up soon enough.

"West died on November 10. We're told her family has been told of the results, but her family declined to release a statement.Story developing ...

Pam's Pregnant and Ditching Rick

The divorce between Pam Anderson and Rick Salomon is back on and Pam is pregnant!

You'll recall Anderson filed for divorce last month, but called it off just days later. But sources tell TMZ she is now moving forward with the divorce, even though we know she's pregnant with his baby.

Salomon has told friends he believes she is "acting crazy" because of the pregnancy and hopes she will settle back into the marriage. Interestingly in her divorce petition, Anderson asked for spousal support but not child support.

The couple were married in Las Vegas on October 6.

Britney WILL Get Help

TMZ has learned family members and professionals in Britney's life are working as a team to get her mental help -- either voluntarily or involuntarily -- for treatment of what appears to be a severe bipolar disorder.

We're told it's going to happen one way or the other, and fast. So far, Britney refuses to commit herself voluntarily, but the team is persisting.

Sources say they are considering "a number of options," some of which are "creative."

The most extreme option -- going to court and getting an order forcing Britney into in-patient treatment. That would be the last ditch effort.

If involuntary commitment is the only option, Brit must be picked up by cops -- again -- on a "5150," meaning she's a danger to herself or others. Then, while she's in the hospital, health care professionals can go to the County Public Guardian, who can then go to court and ask for what's called a "conservatorship." The conservator would then basically assume control of Brit's life.

If the judge grants the conservatorship, Brit could be involuntarily committed to a mental hospital. Again, that's not the only option and various alternatives are being discussed right now.

Lindsay is Being Sued AGAIN...WTF

The woman who was allegedly chased by Lindsay Lohan during the infamous DUI arrest last July claims she's racked up a big shrink bill to get over a bad case of the mean girl.

Tracie Rice has sued Lohan, claiming the actress terrorized her in a wild chase in Santa Monica. Tracie, who called 911 during the pursuit, has filed legal papers alleging she's already spent $3,500 in therapist bills at $175 a crack.

Rice also says she's spent $400 on a medical doctor, $145 on a chiropractor, $150 on medicine and two grand in miscellaneous expenses.

Rice also says she's lost her job as a result of the incident, and that she was taking in between $60 - $75,000 a year.

Are you f***ing kidding me! Therapy for being chased by Lindsay Lohan. I would pay to be chased my Lindsay Lohan. AND, how could you loose your job because of that incident?! AND why did Rice need a chiropractor? She didn't get physically hurt! This is WTF worthy.

Lawsuit Against Lindsay NOT Over

Lohan was driving her Mercedes down Robertson when it smashed into a van driven by Raymundo Ortega. The internet reports cite a document filed last month by Ortega's lawyer, Robert Klein, claiming Klein dropped the suit against Lindsay. Not true. The attorney only dismissed his case against Crossheart Productions, Lindsay's production company. She is still a defendant in the suit, along with the Ivy restaurant, which Ortega claims plied her with alcohol before the crash.

Why Brit Locked Herself in the Bathroom

Unimpeachable sources tell TMZ Brit pitched a fit that she had to attend a deposition in the custody case earlier in the day and she wanted "make-up" time with the kids that evening. Britney had visitation rights with the kids that day. She was supposed to surrender them to K-Daddy at 7:00 PM, but wanted two extra hours. K-Fed and his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, wouldn't allow it, so she locked herself in the house -- thus the stand-off.Here are the probs with Brit's theory. First, the reason her depo was set for last Thursday was because she failed to show the day before. Second, Thursday's depo was supposed to begin at 9:45 AM and go until 11:45 AM. She didn't show until 11:32, so the depo lasted less than 15 minutes. We've learned she only had visitation rights that day between noon and 7 PM. The depo ended at 11:45 and her house was only 15 minutes away. So she really didn't lose any time with the kids.

Does Brit Have Identity Issues?

Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Britney Spears spoke with a British accent during her short stay at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last Friday.
It isn’t the first time she changed her voice. On December 17, she spoke in the same accent while chatting with photographers outside the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.

What does it mean?

“She’s having identity issues,” NYC-based psychotherapist Dr. Robi Ludwig tells Us Magazine of the pop star, who recently lost custody of her children.

“What it definitely says is she doesn’t really like being where she’s at — there’s probably a part of her that wants to escape who she is really is,” Ludwig says, adding that Spears is “in an adolescent mode of thinking ... [she’s] trying on different personas to see what feels good and works for her."

Britney's Car Impounded

The latest in Britney Spears' troubles: She had her Mercedes towed and impounded by police Monday night after abandoning it on L.A.'s busy Sunset Boulevard after suffering a flat tire.
SCN was there as an irritated and upset looking Spears, with a convoy of paparazzi following, suffered a flat right front tire while driving in Brentwood. After driving for over two miles on the flat, Spears pulled the car to a stop and abandoned the vehicle amid rush-hour traffic. LAPD spokesperson Mike Lopez says Britney’s car was impounded because it was “blocking the roadway.”

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, Spears and her assistant then hopped into a car driven by a trailing paparazzo, who drove Spears back to her Beverly Hills home. Within minutes, Spears left in another car and headed to the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills.

An employee at Quicksilver Towing confirmed to Us Magazine that they have impounded her vehicle and will bill Spears a $104 towing fee, plus $32 for every day it remains in their yard. Should Spears not pick up her vehicle within thirty days, it will be put up for public auction.

Britney and Ghalib shared an hour-long breakfast at 11 a.m. this morning.

Brit Brit was seen celebrating her [hospital] release with a cocktail during the meal, and even went to the restroom with her champagne flute.

TMZ has learned Dr. Phil's visit with Britney Spears was not exactly as advertised.People on the 7th floor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center say the Doctor arrived at about 7:30 AM Saturday. We're told Britney did not invite him in; she didn't even know he was coming. Sources say it was Brit's parents who told Dr. Phil to go to the hospital. When he walked into her room, we're told, a blindsided Britney walked out -- and eventually came back.Sources say Phil tried speaking with Spears for about 15 minutes -- not an hour as Dr. Phil's press release states --but she wanted none of it. We're told Phil was doing almost all the talking. As for walking with her to the car on her way out -- again as his release states -- we're told, if he was walking behind her, that's news to her. She absolutely was not accompanied by him.Sources say Dr. Phil somehow convinced Brit's mom and dad to be on his show, which will tape Monday and air Tuesday (it was just moved up a day), but, as one person put it, "Based on the interaction between Dr. Phil and Britney this morning, it'll be a cold day in hell before Britney goes on his show." We're told she absolutely will not appear on the program.Sources say Dr. Phil wants to do a television intervention, something that isn't sitting well with some of the people who have known for a while that Britney has a very serious mental condition -- likely a bipolar disorder that is now in the red zone.TMZ contacted Cedars to find out why the hospital let a television doctor on a floor that has such fragile patients, particularly since Britney had no idea he was coming. It's especially troublesome that Cedars let Dr. Phil go uninvited to Britney's room, since she had already been discharged and presumably had a right to know if someone wanted to visit. A Cedars rep made it short and sweet, telling us "No comment." A rep from the "Dr. Phil" show had no comment as well, other than "Dr. Phil met with Ms. Spears at family members' invitation."

K-Fed Beefs Up Security

Kevin Federline is rightfully concerned for the safety and well-being of little Tater Tot and Small Fry now that their mother has gone off the deep end.

K-Fed is said to be livid about Unfitney's surprising hospital release on Saturday, after only 36 hours of psychiatric evaluation. And, a source close to Federline reveals exclusively to OK! magazine, that's caused him to beef up security.

"Kevin is so worried that Britney will rush his house and try to grab the boys, just like she tried to do last February," explains the source, who tells OK! that K-Fed has doubled security at his Tarzana, Calif., home.

In February, 2007, following Spears' multiple failed trips to rehab and her public head shaving, "She was so scared of losing custody of the boys that she drove to Kevin's house three times and tried to wrestle her way inside to get her sons," the source reminds us. "When Kevin refused each time, she took out her frustration on a photographers car by banging it up with her umbrella. There's no evidence that Britney's any saner than she was that day. In fact, she appears far worse."

The boys are safe for now," the source goes on. "But Kevin feels Britney is clearly deranged, and theres no telling what shell do. After all, this is a woman who two days ago barricaded herself in her bedroom with her youngest child for three hours!" Adds the insider, "You cant get mentally well in a hospital after 36 hours."

Police are at Brit Brit's home to control the paparazzi and the media assembled outside her gated community, The Summit.

"The gates surrounding BRITNEY SPEARS' community are besieged with cops, camera crews and even a helicopter hovering overhead.

Police officers are busy moving cars in an effort to control the media coverage that has been swelling ever since Britney returned home from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center earlier today."

"My meeting with Britney and some of her family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention.

She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her."

YES!!! Dr.Phil actually visited Britney Spears earlier this morning AND was filmed AND could show up on "The Dr.Phil Show" next week!

Obviously his psychiatrist skills didn't work on her cause Brit Brit is out and about in LA, when she should be in a mental hospital or rehab. Good job Phil!

BREAKING NEWS:Britney RELEASED From Hospital

Britney Spears has been released from Cedars-Sinai hospital, following an explosive morning in which she was done, done, done with it!

Sources say the hospital released her without notifying any of the principles involved in the ongoing kiddie drama. So, you ask, how could she have been released so quickly, given that she had been declared for a danger to herself and others?

We're told the "5150 hold" means that she can be held against her will for a max of 72 hours, but if the hospital determines she is no longer a danger, they can release her before that.

Britney is Out of Control

We are hearing from multiple sources that Britney Spears is throwing a fit on the 7th floor of Cedars-Sinai. She is demanding to leave, screaming at the staff, will not lay or sit still, we're told.

From all indications, she is being held on a 5150, which means she is a danger to herself and others. Typically, people in that situation can be held for 72 hours against their will.

We have also been told she has pulled her IV out and is generally out of control.
